"Sanctum" Original painting

This is an image that came to me directly from an art therapy practice known as ‘sandbox’, where objects are chosen and placed within a sandbox to create a scene, which the subconscious is free to influence through the use of symbols; we may not consciously have any idea of the story being told by our subconscious until after the scene is reviewed by the therapist. I find it a fascinating process, because of my deep curiosity about the subconscious and symbols.

The shell, the sea, the lighthouse, the beach and the child could represent different things to different people.
