She looks you direct in the eye, she demands to know. She can withstand the talons that draw blood, and the thorns. She has an awareness of the strength and potency of her body and her cycles, her own vulnerability... but there is so much of the world still to understand.
Blood Moon is a painting about initiation; coming to understand the power of a wound, the insight we are afforded by our fallibility. This woman may have fallen prey to another's hidden motives in the past but she now sees with the sharp eyes of the falcon. She begins to understand her own power and vision.
